The Linebacker Lounge was founded in 1962 by former Notre Dame football player, Myron Pontios and Stan Pisek, a local businessman. They converted the building which had been an old drive inn into the now famous bar. The tavern changed hands numerous times until 1984 when the current owner Elwanda "AL" Delinski formed A&N Inc. with three other partners. In 1988 she bought out her partners and is now the sole proprietor. In 2009 the bar is celebrating its 47th anniversary and we are just getting started. It also marked the 25th anniversary of the ownership by Elwanda Delinski.

The Linebacker has been featured on the Travel Channel, "College Towns", "Tradition Continues," a dvd about the events prior to a Notre Dame home football weekend, and in October 2006 was the remote location for the television broadcast of ESPN "Mike and Mike in the morning" show.

Notre Dame Stadium is not the only thing being renovated. Since October 1996, the Linebacker has gone through some changes of its own. The exterior of the building has been repaired and repainted and a new entrance was added on the north side of the bar. The interior also has been improved with new paneling and tile floor. But the friendship and hospitality will never change. We invite all sports fans, even if you not for the "Fighting Irish" to come and join in the fun at the BACKER.

It still stands as a place known for great food, drinks and friendship for a lifetime.
